We were joined this week by a panel of experts discussing the use of AI in their various industries and how AI is specifically equipped to address certain challenges. Selene Vakharia moderated the panel featuring Robert Atwood of FireAI, Dr Lee Bess of BugMars and business consultant Tasi Gottschlag.

Robert uses AI in wildfire management by flying drones over fires and identifying hotspots, fuel types and other factors that can be integral to fighting wildfires effectively. Dr Lee noted that AI is an effective tool for insect farming because human presence modifies their behaviour and AI tools can count insects and predict their needs while minimizing human impact. Tasi saw the value of leveraging AI to better solve our customer’s pain through simplifying and streamlining customer management software. All of the panelists spoke to the issue of data: AI training requires large data sets and to ensure we are finding the right answers, we need to be asking the right questions. In their unique sectors, each of the panelists used AI, and saw the future potential of AI, to enhance human work rather than replacing it. By using AI for mundane or small-scale tasks, we free up our time to focus on creative tasks or human-to-human interactions.

We appreciate Robert, Tasi and Dr Lee taking the time to share their insights with us, as well as Selene for facilitating this exciting discussion!
