For over 20 years, Computerisms has been a trusted name in Yukon IT for delivering reliable tech support, managed services, and consulting to growing organizations across the territory. Today, that legacy continues under the leadership of Mohit Godiya, whose personal journey into the tech world began long before he ever set foot in Canada.
Born in India, Mohit grew up with a deep curiosity for how electronics worked. “How does a calculator really calculate 2+2?” he remembers asking as a kid, an early spark that eventually led him to pursuing a computer science degree. After graduating in 2013, he moved to Canada to study internet security. His welcome to the country was dramatic: the very next day after he arrived in London, Ontario, Niagara Falls froze for the first time in more than 70 years. The cold was a shock, “a very big shock”, but the adventure had officially begun.
Mohit’s first Canadian job was delivering pizzas, but he quickly worked his way back into the tech world, taking roles in local computer schools before joining Computerisms under its previous owner, Bob. Over the next 7-8 years, Mohit became a core part of the team, eventually purchasing the business two and a half years ago.
Buying a business was not something he took lightly. He worked with a business evaluator, accountant, and lawyer, “just like you’d rely on an inspector or realtor when buying a house.” These mediators helped him with evaluating factors that he wouldn’t have otherwise even through to consider.
His word of advice for entrepreneurs stepping in to acquire established businesses “Don’t underestimate the back-end work that goes into administration. There’s constant “firefighting” – unpredictable issues, sudden emergencies, and the responsibility of supporting both clients and staff. More importantly, as an owner, there’s no safety net. “I am the safety net,” he says with a laugh.
Despite the pressures, Mohit thrives on providing excellent customer service. Transparency, clear expectations, and education are core values for him. “Customers should always know what they’re paying for and why,” he says. Whether Computerisms is supporting a single user, a small business, or a large organization, Mohit emphasizes communication, clarity, and responsiveness.
One thing that frustrates him about the IT world is the public conversation around AI and data privacy. “People complain about AI or data mining, but don’t actually take steps to protect themselves”. For Mohit, technology is both powerful and neutral, what matters is how people choose to use it.
Since joining Tech Yukon, Mohit has found the community supportive and energizing. He especially enjoys the discussions happening within the membership Slack group. Looking ahead, he hopes to continue expanding his technical knowledge, contribute more to the local tech ecosystem, and support others in navigating the ever-changing IT landscape.
With Mohit at the helm, Computerisms remains committed to delivering fast, dependable, and human-centred IT support, all while helping Yukon organizations stay secure, resilient, and ready for what comes next.
